NCO Camp - The Memos.
will be updating this throughout this five days (hopefully). haha it's time to share with you junwei-hungry people. here goes:
Day One (6 Nov)
yes, the first day of the nco camp. i was almost late again. it's that taxi-driver's fault. i hired him at bendemeer road, after travelling for about 5 minutes, he turned to me and said
"sorry ah boy, i don't know how to go, you take another taxi la."
you could've imagined the look on my face, provided that you know i'm running late - It's already 7.45am. i was supposed to arrive at 8am! crap, i thought. just my luck.
anyway i got on another cab.reached the ccab at about 8.02am. the fare was uber-expensive . $8.80. that was half of my allowance for this week. argh. i guess i'll have to dig out my savings. if not i wouldn't survive this week.
harold , my school's drum major representative was there waiting for me, thank goodness i have friends like this to be there in my most crucial life moments. haha. i guess that was a little too exaggerated.
i stepped in, i searched for familiar faces and managed to find a few. we sat down and talked for a little while. then, we were told to go play our ice-breaking games.
Ohhh - Here's the fun part.
the ice breaking games was for us to know each other (apparently only the names). the first game was one called "power..." something. it's a game whereby you hold hands with your teammates, sitting on the ground. and there would be two points at each end of the row. there were two rows because we were competing with the other groups. the end of the rows were two people called "neutral" and "powerpoint". the powerpoint is to send out multiple signals (by squeezing the hand of the person beside them) then the people in the rows would have to pass them down - accurately! the first row to pass the signals to the end of the neutral (by tapping him/her) wins the round... enough about this. WE LOST. CRAP. IT WAS A TOTAL THRASHING.
later i saw met another familiar guy. ***n*sh (for confidentiality purposes i shall not reveal his name) . the guy who dresses very well and plays the flute very well too. (it's a compliment!) we changed multiple games. and then to this color game whereby you have to touch a person's clothing when the host calls out the colour. the one who did not manage to touch will do a forfeit. apparently i thought he didn't want to lose face by touching other people's clothes? later did he know that he would be losing more face.
"....you have to run around the hall with you blue jacket behind you like a cape then sing the superman song"
that was what the host said. poor him. he did it, of course, with a sporty attitude. it was quite funny, and spastic. i had to admit. (no offence, man)
yes yes after that it was all rehearsals and rehearsals. then lunch. then rehearsals.
when it was dimissal, i hung around the entrance of the ccab with el**s* and A**. then this question from *l**s* popped out from her mouth. which i shall not say what. what i recommend you to do is, *l**s* , it's better not to ask that much, haha. an advice from the safety guru.
it had been a tiring day. but nevertheless - a fun and interesting one as well. i'm looking forward to tomorrow. ciao!
Day Two (7 Nov)
okay for today i took a cab, once again.a nd the taxi fare totalled up to a whoppin $16.60. I cursed and sweared under my breath while getting out of the cab. the cab driver had that smirk on his face, like he was thinking "wow! easy money!". argh whatever stupid taxi driver. he travelled the wrong way, and we ended up turning everywhere aimlessly. he should have told me if he didn't know the way!
anyway today i met somemore new friends. Alexa was one of them. She is a korean singaporean. BUT. the thing is she looks very very caucasian. i thought that she has pretty nice facial features. and she is a very nice person too.
during lunch (oh, food was bad, really bad) the boys from the flute section would always disappear, or that they formed their own groups with their friends. i was left stranded at the lunch area, looking for someone to sit and have lunch with. i ended up sitting with the girls in my flute section. i must admit, they're very nice people. they didn't mind that i was the only male there.
today we did display techniques. for marching bands. the session was quite fun, but somehow i find the instructor quite familiar. I knew it. it was the old man that has shoo-ed me out of his way before during the pre-camp sectionals. i wondered if he remembered me. anyway, i was really enjoying myself during the display technique sessions. all those mark times, back turns were really interesting.
at the end of the day we did some marching. with the people from the ncc groups from various schools. our commander was shark/shake/shak/shek (delete where appropriate, i don't know how to spell his name) he will be the one teaching us basic drills for this five days.
oh yes, at the end of everything, me,alexa, elisse and jeremy (all flutes) went to "mr-prata" for dinner. and we took a couple of pictures. i'll upload them at the end of the entries for five days.
Day Three (8 Nov)
YES. THE DAY. THE GAMES AGAIN!
we had some pretty fun games organised by the student game facilitators. first one was the tennis ball game. throw the ball, say the person's name. the second one was the mat game.
